Shenandoah Sunburst -
Let your creative juices come alive with color as you learn to paper
piece arcs and borders. Learn how to save fabric and get the grain right
when paper piecing. Each square (16 pt. sunburst in square set with
feathers) finishes to 10 1/2". 6 hr. class
Create Your Own Magic Carpet
- Learn how to create an Oriental, Indian or Art Deco style quilt using
modules. While design emphasis will be on foundation piecing, you may
use other traditional techniques. Designs will be created in miniature
for ease of manipulation and enlarged, if needed, for final product. 6
hr. class.
Feathered Star - Make a
feathered star with no set in corners. Learn fabric and time saving
techniques for paper piecing the star arms as well as most borders. Star
finishes to 12 1/2". Recommended for experienced paper piecers. 3
hour class
Color Wheel / Mariner's Compass
- Learn advanced paper piecing and traditional color theory in one class
while you make this stunning 12 point mariner's compass. (20"
diameter) All levels. 3 hour class.
Mariner's Compass & Border - Learn the stress free way to make
this time honored pattern, by paper piecing modules that go together
without setting in a single corner! Compass and border measures
approx. 11" square. 3 hour class. Intermediate to advanced.

Christmas Wreaths - This wreath is made up of 16 paper pieced
squares. You will learn the tricks that make this technique so
easy and fun. Finished size of wreath the 14". 3 hour class.
Great class for beginners!!

Persian Rug - Learn the secrets as you make your choice of a
miniature or a lap size butterfly medallion style oriental rug design.
Miniature size is 12 3/4" x 19 5/8". Lap size is 49 1/2" x 60".
Prior experience paper piecing is strongly recommended.

Value of Color -
Subtitled "Block of the Month: An educational Opportunity. This
lecture/slide show presents an overview of a two year color theory study
conducted by the Shenandoah Valley Quilters Guild. Featured
are a series of blocks, made in a multitude of color combinations. Learn
the importance of value and contrast in your fabric selections. See how
your Block-of-the-Month can be a real educational tool for your guild. 1
hour.
Creative Freedom with Absolute
Accuracy - This lecture will open your eyes to the fascinating
world of piecing on paper foundations. Learn how to turn traditional
patters or original designs into patterns that use this fast and easy
technique. 1 hour. (also available as a workshop of 3-6 hours)
Quilts With Very Special Meanings - For many quilters and
collectors, our quilts hold a very special significance in our lives, an
importance that transcends the fabric, thread, and even the effort to
make the quilt. This lecture features quilts that have a very
special place in our hearts. They may represent family ties, the
comfort it provided the maker or the receiver, the obstacles that were
overcome in its making, or a special or difficult time in our lives.
The stories behind these quilts may make you laugh, cry, grit your
teeth, or just feel an overwhelming sense of peace. These quilts
are not necessarily the oldest, the most beautiful, or the best made,
but rather the quilts that we hold dearest to our hearts!!! Your
members are welcome to bring their own very special quilts to add to the
fun. (1 hour.)
