          A DAY AT THE BEACH

Wiggle your toes in the sand and watch a sailboat off in the distance as you sew Paula’s quick and easy original paper foundation pattern.  By the end of the day you will reserving your vacation spot for next summer.

            fabric choices and construction are explained and demonstrated.

Unlock your creative potential!  The creative process, design concepts and a variety of techniques for
creating original blocks will be explored.

          FEATHERED STAR
         
Create a feathered star  quilt or the center of a beautiful medallion using an Paula’s original paper
             foundation pattern. Continue the fun at how with a dozen variations of this of this easy pattern.

          FINDING FOCUS:  THE CREATIVE SPIRIT
         
What is creativity and how do we get it?  Find the power within  yourself!  The Myers-Briggs Type
             Indicator will assist in how you approach the creative process. In addition to group-directed discussion
             on creativity you will explore the many aspects of color, including how it feels, tastes and smells.

FOUNDATION PIECING PIZZAZZ
        
Tour the United States while making one of three 9” x 12” designs (Down on the Farm, Mountain Sunset
            or Safe Harbor).  Using Paula’s original paper foundation piecing patterns, these teeny vignettes inspire fun
            quilting designs and embellishments.   

            FREE AND EASY
        
A liberating approach to quilt making!  Thee are no right or wrong answers.  Explore color and  design
            while creating a wall quilt using nontraditional sewing techniques.

            Create your own original Hawaiian design and learn the process of needle turn applique as you begin your
            quilt.

            LONE STARS
         
Using contemporary techniques create a lone star that will sparkle in the heavens.  Your star may replicate
             the beautiful antique stars that lead us to the present day by the choice of your fabrics or lead us to the future.
            A slide presentation showcases many lovely lone   star quilts

          MASTERING THE MARINER’S COMPASS
         
Master the secrets of drafting Mariner’s Compasses and then explore design possibilites including the creation
            of a paper foundation pattern for easy construction.

            NEW YORK BEAUTIES

Create your own New York Beauty block and use it to begin paper foundation piecing their quilt.  Block designs may be traditional or wildly exuberant depending on how the lines are placed and the fabrics selected.

SHATTERED MINIATURE LONE STAR
The possiblities are endless and every star is beautiful.  Honest!  Create a traditional lone star or one that has each diamond divided into three trianggles.  The technique is not hard at all when Paula’s original paper foundation patternis used.

          SIMPLY STUNNING SLICED STARS
         
What to do with a large print fabric that has been sitting in your closet?  Cut it apart and use one print area to
             reassemble it into different stars in eiither a 6”. 8”, 10” or 12” finished size block.  Directions for all sizes are
             included on Paula’s pattern.  Surprise abounds when you see what is in the stars.

TESSELLATIONS
         
Discover the wonder of creating interlocking designs that are perfect for quilt making. The steps to creating
             these intriguing designs will be covered in class.  The design and coloration of a quilt top will be started in the
             workshop.

          WONDERFUL WATERCOLORS
         
Use value and color to create subtle gradations found in the Impressionist paintings.  Paper and pencil
             exercises are followed by actual fabric placement and sewing.

          MASTERING THE MARINER’S COMPASS II
         
A two day workshop that includes drafting a mariner’s compass in a circle, oval and off center design,
             learning how to create a paper foundation pattern for accurate machine piecing and then create a compass
            of your own design to sew  in class.
